"I
knew all his projects for the stain glass windows. ..16
years later, I have seen absolutely similar designs
of Henry Matisse in 1951 for his famous "Roser"
chapell in Venvhy, France. The similitude amazed me.
It were the same ornamental motifs. Exactly the same
colours, the same drawing treatment. But...the compositions,
which Krychevsky made in 1934-35 were much more monumental,
compact and stylized..."
Evgen Blakytni, during his speech
in New York remembering the 10th anniversary of the
death of VHK, said, that the original project of the
Taras Shevchenko Memorial Museum (Vasyl H.Krychevsky
and P.Kostyrko) was deprived of the VHK designs by the
government.
